The gallery opened about thirty years ago as a small shop to sell Joyce and Lou Mastro's kiln fired enamel jewelry, Lou's metalwork, and Joyce's paintings. For many years it was a summer business. As the population of the area grew, and tourism increased, it became feasible to remain open year round. The building was enlarged and a gallery space was added. Later, a sculpture yard grew out of the need for an outdoor exhibit area to show Lou Mastro's metal sculptures.

Today, the gallery sells the work of American artisans. It's focus is on contemporary handcrafts with an emphasis on handmade jewelry, functional pottery, mixed media, and artwork by Maine and New England artists. Paintings are hung in the gallery space and rotated regularly. During the summer season, the gallery hosts art exhibits with opening receptions. The receptions are a fun art social where the public may view the exhibit, meet the artist, and also shop the gallery until 8:00 PM.
